Salvation is a relationship and every relationship has at least two sides.  Each person must work correctly at their side of the relationship to properly maintain it properly.

This book is about how to correctly maintain y our side of the salvation relationship you have been given by God. It does not need to be said that God perfectly maintains His side of the salvation relationship.

Salvation is a relationship (Jn 17:3)

In a relationship there are two parties

For the relationships to be sustained each party must:

Desire the relationship

Work correctly at maintaining their side of the relationship

This book is about correctly maintaining our side of the salvation relationship we have been given with Jesus and The Father.

God, Of course, perfectly maintains His side of the relationship

God is in complete control

God is in complete control of all your circumstances and knows what you need to maintain your side of the relationship you have with Him and is able to do all that is necessary for you to be able to do what you need to do to maintain your side of this relationship you have with Him.

He prepares you to do His Will

He prepares the thing for you to do

He guides you how to do it when it is necessary to do so

He strengthens you to do His Will

All we can say is that we did His Will and that we are profitable servants having done our Master’s Will!

Can you lose your salvation?

The short answer is Yes!

The explanation

If your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life you go to heaven and not hell.

Rev_20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev_21:27  And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

You can ose your Salvation by taking your focus off Jesus and onto things of the world Satan is god of and controls so that you do not listen to God’s Will for you.

Rev 3:4  Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

As you can see you can lose your salvation through apathy and indifference as well as unrepented rebellion.

Eventually you end up ignoring God so much that you quench (Kill the work of The Holy Spirit in you) and you no longer have His presence in you marking you as belonging to Jesus.

This is the sin God cannot forgive.

Mat_12:31  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Mat_12:32  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

In otherwords by your actions you ignore The Holy Spirit and bring Him into disrepute (blaspheme Him).

Of course there is also the outright criticism and rejection of The Holy Spirit as well.

Heb 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

Heb 6:5  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

Heb 6:6  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

We are told that those who have experienced Christianity and belonged to it but who deliberately fallen away from it cannot repent so are doomed forever to go to hell, no matter what they do as they cannot repent.

I have met such a person and they are a sight to be pitied because no matter how much they try and repent they are unable too.

It all begins by taking your focus off Jesus so that He is no longer Lord of a part of your life and then letting your holiness slip by focusing on worldly things the ends in following Satan, even if only by rejecting Jesus and His requirements of you.

Maintaining your side of the salvation relationship God has given you

Why do you need to be saved

When you disobey God you are removed from The Kingdom of God and the only place left to go is hell!  You are then in the kingdom of Satan under his rule.   The rebellion against a king (God) is treason punishable by death and our sin leads us to spiritual death - eternity in hell.

God saw that were unable to meet the punishment for our sin so sent Jesus to meet it in our place.  This He did at Calvary.

By meeting the punishment for our sin He redeemed us.  But this redemption is only for those that follow Him as their Lord and so belong to His Kingdom.

This is why you must maintain the salvation relationship with Him as your Lord so that when you die you belong to His Kingdom and will go to heaven.

Understanding this will make Christianity more meaningful

Understanding why you need the salvation relationship with Jesus and the need to maintain your side of it properly will be an incentive to do this and will give you more incentive to work at maintaining your salvation.  It gives reason and purpose for following Jesus as Lord - which is really what the Christian life is all about.

How do you become a Christian?

There are three basic actions:

You must turn back on Satan and all he offers you

You must turn to Jesus and doing all He desires you to do

You must make Jesus Lord of your life so that you belong to His Kingdom.

When you become a Christian you change your perspective from what Satan offers to what Jesus offers you.

You will only follow Jesus if you believe:

He is Lord of all, including Satan, and that you will have to face Him and give an account of your life.

He died at Calvary so that you could be reconciled to God.

He has only your best interests at heart because He loves you for who you are and not what people say you should be.

He is greater than Satan so is more worthwhile following and offers you much better than Satan offer s you after you die.

You need to study The Bible to see what Jesus says so that when you talk about Him to others you will only tell them what is correct about Jesus and what He offers them and also so you know how to live in the way Jesus desires you to live.

Jesus will send people to help you do this and The Holy Spirit’s presence is in you to guide you in all things you need to know about how to live and serve Jesus in the way you are suppose too.

Attitudes of a Christian necessary to maintain Salvation

They must demonstrates God's quality of Love

The mark of early Christianity was the quality of Love they had for each other and others around them.  The heathen around them use to comment on the quality of the love of Christians as it was so foreign to their world’s lifestyle.

This means that in all we do we need to determine what is best for the person you are relating too.  Love only does what is best for a person and deals with them in the way God would deal with them.  This is why you need to be able to hear The Holy Spirit when The Bible is silent about what to do in a situation.

However, Love never does something or someone they should be doing themselves but can help them do it.

It is important to remove that Love is the basic attitude in heaven and how to love with His quality of Love is the main lesson God is trying to teach us on earth.

You need to exhibit The Fruit of The Holy Spirit in your life.

How you show the fruit of The Spirit toward others will depend on how you show it to God!  How you express it will be an overflow of how you express it toward God.

Love: Unconditional love towards God out of appreciation for what He has done for you.

Joy: The Joy in the personal relationship you have with God.

Peace: Peace because you have a relationship with God who will look after your every need.

Longsuffering: Patiently waiting for God to do what He needs to do for you.

Gentleness: Softness in all you do for God and others because there is no aggression in you.

Goodness: There are no evil intentions in everything you do.

Faith: Complete unconditional trust in God

Meekness: Holding God as more worthy than you in all that happens.

Temperance: Doing everything in a non-excessive, moderate way.

These attitudes will flow to others as they are made a part of you by being expressed towards God.

Demonstrates the Authority of Jesus over Satan and his kingdom

If you believe Jesus is Lord of all then you will express the Authority He has given you over His enemy so that you can fight His battles for Him.  You will hate Satan and his works like Jesus does and will seek to free people from Satan and his kingdom.

You will obey Jesus in all you do by rejecting what Satan suggests you do

You will express the Lordship of Jesus in your life in all you do because you Love Him and desire to whole heartedly obey Him.  This means rejecting all Satan suggests you do which is really the basis of Holiness.  It also means hearing The Holy Spirit so you know what you are to do and studying The Bible to know His requirements of you.

Only as the Authority of The Kingdom is expressed will people see it and its King Jesus.

How do you maintain the gift of your Salvation?

You need to know

How to pursue holiness: In other words know what Satan desires you to do so you can reject it and follow what Jesus desires you to do.

Defeat Satan’s attacks on you: You need to know how Satan attacks you and/ or others so you can defeat the attack.

You need to know how to be guided by The Holy Spirit:  So you know what God requires you to do when The Bible is Silent.  This is why you never argue, assume, reason or react when something happens but ask The Holy Spirit what to do if The Bible is not clear on the matter.  Satan will use your reactions, habits  and attitudes against you and also God is original not having to do the same thing the same way He did it before.

You need to know how to expand The Kingdom of God by destroying the plans and works of Satan and capturing people from His Kingdom for the Kingdom of God (spiritual warfare and evangelism).

To maintain holiness you need to reject all Satan offers you

You need to obey the Will of Jesus for you in all you do.

Holiness is the result of a decision to Jeep Jesus as Lord of your life and of all you do and to reject what Satan suggests you do.  It requires an act of Will and endurance to continually reject the attacks off Satan.  This is why you need to know how to remove Satan and halt his attacks against you.

If you love Jesus you will delight in doing what He asks you to do.  In otherwords you:

You must study to know His requirements

You must apply His requirements

You must live according to His requirements.  Demons know them but do not do them.

If you Love Him you will keep His commandments and a sign of loving Him is your wholehearted, unreservedly obedience to His requirements of you.

This also means that you must know how to correctly relate to

Satan and his demons

You must seek to develop God’s character in you

You must study The Bible to know what His Character is like

You must evaluate all criticism to see if it is correct and deal with what there is of it that is correct.  People will criticise you, not because you have done something wrong but because they need to find a fault with you so that they feel more important than you and have self-worth by criticizing you.

This is why you need to ask The Holy Spirit what, if any, of the criticism about you is correct and then to ask Him how to deal with it.

You need to know how to be guided by The Holy Spirit:  So you know what God requires you to do when The Bible is Silent.  This is why you never argue, assume, reason or react when something happens but ask The Holy Spirit what to do if The Bible is not clear on the matter.  Satan will use your reactions and attitudes against you and also God is original not having to do the same thing the same way He did it before.

Jesus is waiting there to help you do this but it is up to you to desire to do this and work at developing your character.  Only as you express God’s quality of Love and endure trials correctly will you develop the character God desires to have in you.

Attitudes and habits used by Satan

In Gal 5:22-23 we have the Fruit of The Spirit.  This is followed by attitudes that Satan develops in a person.

Gal 5:19-21  (KJV) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Or as the CEV states it:

Gal 5:19-21  People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds.  They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they are envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom.

Remember, for these to be sin they need to be done deliberately, ignoring the Holy Spirit showing you that they are sin.

The Ten Commandments also tell us what God requires so to deliberately disobey them is also sin.  The Ten Commandments are how you are to behave toward to another when showing God’s Love toward them.

In Revelation 21:8 is a list if those that will not go to heaven:

Rev 21:8 (KJV)  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Rev 21:8 (CEV)  But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulphur. This is the second death.

This verse states things a little differently in that it shows the basic attitudes behind the willful committing of sin.

The old testament has a similar approach in the following verses:

Pro 6:16  There are six or seven kinds of people the LORD doesn't like:

Pro 6:17  Those who are too proud or tell lies or murder,

Pro 6:18  those who make evil plans or are quick to do wrong,

Pro 6:19  those who tell lies in court or stir up trouble in a family.

The verse that scares me the most in regard to judgment is the following:

Mat 12:36-36 (CEV)  I promise you that on the day of judgement, everyone will have to account for every careless word they have spoken.  On that day they will be told that they are either innocent or guilty because of the things they have said.

Remember also that Jesus said we are to obey the laws of the land when they do not contravene His laws.  So to continually disregard them is sin and if you do not repent from doing them: things like speeding, lying on Income tax returns or similar you will go to hell where many others are who have done this type of rebellion against God.

You must desire to do these things

It is your choice what you do and you will have no one else to blame but yourself if you go to hell as it was your choices that placed you there!  God will always send people to help you but it is your choice to listen to them. He also has given you The Holy Spirit to personally guide you so that you will have only yourself to blame if you do not listen to Him.

Depending on your view of whom God is and your Love for Him and appreciation of what He has done for  you will be determined how much you willing to listen to Him.

Choose wisely and go to heaven.  Choose wrongly and go to hell.  This is why you need to think of the spiritual consequences of every decision you make.

Whose king you are obeying when you die is the one whose kingdom you go to be with after you die.  This is why you always need to be in a good relationship with God because if you die out of this relationship you will go to hell!

We have free will and are not robots so the responsibility for your choice is with you.

All actions have consequences and will affect either The Kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan.

There is only one kingdom of earth - that of Satan so that there are no fence sitters on the earth as there is no fence to sit on.  You are either actively serving God or Satan.  To serve Satan you do not have to sin.  All you have to do is sit back and ignore what God requires you to do so that by this inactivity to God's things you are serving Satan and rebelling against God..

Three parts to keep your freedom in Christ

You need to pursue holiness (what God desires you to do and pursue)

You need to know how Satan attacks and how to defeat Him and free others from his control or influence

You need to expand The Kingdom of God (rescuing people from Satan or taking property from him and using it for the purpose of Jesus where possible.

How to pursue holiness

You need to know what God requires of you. The only way to do this is:

Study The Bible and apply it.  Satan knows The Bible better than you and does not apply it.

Listen to The Holy Spirit so He can guide you in this and in what to do in life when The Bible is silent.

You need to know how to do what God desires you to do:

You need to be able to hear clearly The Holy Spirit as He shows you how to apply The Bible

God will send people to mentor you and help you in this so you need to know who to listen too when guided by others.  The Holy Spirit will show you who to listen too.

You need to desire to pursue it.

You must wholeheartedly pursue holiness as without it you cannot go to heaven.

You need to appreciate the need for holiness or you will not pursue it as you should.

Know how to protect yourself from Satan

You need to know how he attacks

Directly (Personally)

Indirectly using other people or objects

You need to know how to protect yourself from his attacks

Anything that takes your focus off Jesus or His Will for you is an attack of Satan or something he has programmed or tried to program into your mind.

Satan has to convince you to accept what he wants you to do and does this by affecting you in some way. It may be thoughts in your mind, emotions in your feelings and sensations in your body or something else that he uses to remove your focus off Jesus and His Will for you.

He can also attack you indirectly through other people or objects so that the other people raise ungodly feelings, desires and emotions or objects or things become so attractive to you that they become idols.

This is why Paul wrote in 2 Cor 10:5

(KJV) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(BBE)  Putting an end to reasonings, and every high thing which is lifted up against the knowledge of God, and causing every thought to come under the authority of Christ;

As it can be seen modern Bibles say things a little differently to each other but in this case all three give different aspects to the approach of giving all to Jesus to be Lord of.

When it is given to Jesus to be Lord of then we can apply James 4:7

BBE)  For this cause be ruled by God; but make war on the Evil One and he will be put to flight before you.

(CEV)  Surrender to God! Resist the devil, and he will run from you.

(KJV)  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

So a simple three step process is used to remove the attacks if Satan:

Give the attack to Jesus to be Lord of.

In Jesus Name command Satan to go to Jesus and take all he has done and is doing to you with him.

Ask the Holy Spirit to take Satans place.

I have found this the simplest and best way to deal with the attacks of Satan.

Remember, Satan has to convince you to accept what He offers so the first defence is to reject what he is trying to have you do.

Expand The Kingdom of God

People who love their king will willingly serve Him.  They will promote Him to others, defend His Kingdom and protect it for Him.  They will attack His enemies and desire for them to be a part of His Kingdom.

If you love Jesus you will be doing these things for Him.

If you love others as He does then you would be selfish in not telling others about who He is, what He has done for you and can do for them!

The last two commands of Jesus before He died were to tell others about what He had done for them and to attack Satan and free people to join The Kingdom of God which makes them very important.

Mat 28:18-20  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

They were to go and tell people:

Jesus is Lord of all

They can have a personal relationship with Him that results in their going to heaven

If they reject Jesus they will end up in hell.

If you love Jesus you will do this for Him.

And to destroy the works of His enemy by removing him and dealing with any damage he had done to people.

Mar 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;   They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Note: Serpent can mean a physical one but it also can mean Satan.

In this verse Jesus talks about attacking His enemy, Satan, and destroying what He has done to people through restoring them to wholeness in Jesus.  This He has mandated to us and given us the authority to deal with Satan so we can do these things.

The world belongs to Satan and he will always use it to attack you so you will always be defending and attacking against it unless you are living a comfortable Christian life and are not concerned about the commands of Jesus.

We are told to be around those that can encourage and teach us so that we have someone to encourage us in the difficult times.

Heb 10:24-25  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Ecc 4:9-10  Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

At times we need someone around us to help us see clearly a situation we are in the middle of or to explain to use something about our faith or to tell us what God is doing with us at that time.

If we are by ourselves Satan can deceive us so that we do not see things as they really are and there is no one to show us the deception he is placing on us.

Steps to maintain your God-given salvation relationship

Seek the Will (Lordship) of Jesus in all you do

Do all in Gods quality of Love

Know what God requires you to do it and how to do it

Know how to remove Satan when he is trying to stop you doing it.

Do not: argue, assume, reason or react when something happens but ask The Holy Spirit what to do if The Bible is not clear on the matter.  Satan will use your reactions and attitudes against you and also God is original not having to do the same thing the same way He did it before.

What happens if you do not maintain the salvation relationship you have with God?

You no longer are a part of His Kingdom but will belong to the kingdom of Satan so that, when you die, you will go to the kingdom Satan rules, which is hell where Satan torments the children of The Father who rejected His Son, Jesus.

On the Internet are many stories of people who were taken to hell by Jesus and these alone should encourage you to avoid it.

There is a difference between sinning and repenting so that you are restored and turning your back on Jesus and His Kingdom because you like what Satan offered you more than what Jesus offers you.

How do you lose your salvation?

The three most common reasons Christians are in hell are:

They liked a sin so much they would not repent of it

They would not forgive another

They did not do what Jesus required Christians to do for Him which was to love others with the same quality of love with which He loves them and to act on this Love in a way He would act on it.

Non-Christians go to hell because they reject Jesus and what He offers them.

Why do you go to hell?

You follow Satan and reject Jesus so you belong to His kingdom and hell is where his kingdom is situated.  He is the ‘god’ of this world but this world really now belongs to Jesus who has not claimed it yet but soon will.

Because you have not accepted the redemption of Jesus through accepting Jesus as Lord and obeying Him you are defiled by sin’s results and so cannot enter The Kingdom of God.  The only other place left to go to is the kingdom of Satan which is hell

What is the reward for maintaining your salvation?

A personal relationship with the God of this universe

His personal help in all you do.  We may not realise how He is helping but He is preparing you to be in heaven forever with Him. The way we expect Him to help is not necessarily the way He is working for our best.

When we die we will go to heaven and experience all the good things God has for us there and there we will find out all that God did for us to help us get to heaven.

It is a battle between two kings

On one side is Satan, who hates us and will do anything to destroy us and torment us.  On the other side is Jesus who only ever does what is best for us.

Satan is ruler of this world system so that he uses it to attack us which is why we are told not to love the things of the world but to seek the things of God so we will not be led astray by the world and its things.

This is why you need to be guided by The Holy Spirit so you know whether God or Satan is behind what is happening to you.

Because we have free will the choice is yours and you will have no one else to blame if you go to hell and not heaven.

Recapping what a Christian is?

A Christian is a person who has a salvation relationship with The Father and Jesus (Jn 17:3)

Jesus is Lord of all they do

They are His servants doing His work on earth now and later in heaven after they die.

They are a Citizen of The Kingdom of God serving Him alone.  They may serve others but only because He asks them too.

They are His representatives on earth and do His Will here, fighting the enemy of Jesus, Satan and raiding the kingdom of Satan to free people so they can belong to The Kingdom of God and have the same personal relationship with Jesus and The Father that they do.

They do not let Satan’s world compromise their faith in any way and pursue only what Jesus desires and not what Satan offers through his world system.

When they die they will go to heaven to be with Jesus and enjoy all the pleasures He has prepared here for them.

Thankfulness is a result of our appreciation and gratitude for what God has done for us.  We serve God out of Love for Him and thankfulness for what He has done for us.

Thankfulness is a result of a correct appreciation of how God has expressed His Love towards us and should be a result of what happens when God shows His Love toward us.

God always shows us Love and Mercy until we go to hell; when He is no longer in charge of our lives but Satan is.

Even when we do not see it God is doing things for us that would make us thankful if we knew He was doing them.

So an attitude we should have always is thankfulness for what God has done for us.

Note: Whenever you do anything for The Kingdom of God each member of The Trinity is involved.

The Father gives you what you need

The Lord Jesus as ruler of all protects it

The Holy Spirit as our guide and teacher shows us how to do the activity and anoints us to do it.

Each of these three should really be addressed when praying or doing something for The Kingdom.  In reality anything we do out of obedience to God is for The Kingdom.

Each should be thanked for their part after the matter is finished.

This is different to talking to them as a friend and as part of the personal relationship we have with each of them.  But still they all play a part in this also.

The Father in bringing you into The Kingdom so that you can have this relationship

The Lord Jesus protecting it so you can have it

The Holy Spirit in helping and guiding you in how to relate and talk to each of them.

And each should be thanked in the evening for the day and greeted in the morning and the day given to them to be in charge of.

These must not be legalistically said because they then become religious and God may not hear them.  They must be said:

Out of your love and for appreciation of each member of The Trinity

As an expression of your relationship with each member of The Trinity

As a true expression of your faith in The Trinity and as an extension of your Christian life and its faith.

Attitudes of a Citizen of The Kingdom of God

Phil 2:12-13 (ESV) My dear friends, you always obeyed what you were taught. Just as you obeyed when I was with you, it is even more important for you to obey now that I am not there. So you must continue to live in a way that gives meaning to your salvation. Do this with fear and respect for God.  Yes, it is God who is working in you. He helps you want to do what pleases him, and he gives you the power to do it.

When you become a Christian you begin a lifestyle journey to put into practice what it means to be a Christian.  This means you must learn how to live as one and develop the attitudes required to live as one.  Demons confess Jesus is Lord but do not live as He requires them to live.  So being a Christian is more than just declaring Jesus is Lord!

Living as a Christian should be how a citizen of The Kingdom of God should live.

Anyone who says they follow Jesus but does not live as He requires them too is following the lifestyle of demons and will not go to heaven.  It is only those that confess Jesus as Lord and show it by their lifestyle that will go to heaven.

There is a warning in Rev 3:5 that states that anyone who deliberately does not live in the manner Jesus requires them to live will not go to heaven but will go to hell.

This document discusses the attitudes and purposes a Christian should have to live in the way Jesus desires them to live.

An important part of maintaining your salvation is having the correct attitudes.

God’s Purpose

God’s purpose for is us to believe in Jesus and all He said and then to act on these beliefs:

John 6:29 Jesus answered, "The work God wants you to do is this: to believe in the one he sent."

To do this we must develop and intimate relationship with Jesus and understand His Love for us so we will know who He is and what He has done for us and appreciate Him sufficiently to be motivated to follow Him.

We must learn all we can about Him and His requirements of us so we can relate to Him as we should and live in a way that pleases Him.

We need to know how to clearly hear The Holy Spirit and understand what Jesus said to do in The New Testament.

We are to serve Him out of love for Him and appreciation of what He has done for us.  Fear of hell is not a good motivation for serving him, but it does help to realise what happens if you do not obey Him as Lord.

In a sense it is a good incentive program.

Jesus said in John 14:15 :

If you love me, keep my commandments.

Praise, adoration, worship, thanksgiving, obedience and love for Jesus are a result of our appreciation of what He has done for us, is doing for us and will do for us as is our serving Him out of love for Him.

Unless you see God’s Heart for people you will not love them as He does or love Him as you should and will not serve Him out of a pure Love for Him.  You also will not fully see how much He Loves you.

So we need to learn about God and His Love for us and to draw ever closer and intimately with Him to know His heart of Love for us and others so that we can respond out of Love for Him and obey and serve Him out of the quality of Love He has for us and others.

To know His love you must experience it and know you have experienced it and this is where The Holy Spirit helps you by showing you this.  As you trust Him more you develop a greater love for Him and He can show and reveal more of His Love toward you.

One would think two passages describing God’s quality of Love would agree or be identical.  But it can be seen that the terms used are approximate so that you really need to look at both lists to get an overview of what God’s Love is like according to The Bible.

God’s type of Love expresses itself as The Fruit of The Spirit.

In summary you could say that Love is the result of an active belief in and appreciation of God and what He has done for you.  It expresses itself in selfless service and seeking only what God desires a person to seek.  It trusts God in all that happens so it is never troubled by circumstances and obtains its worth from what God thinks of them so is never defending whom they are as a person so can accept others as they are.  This means they can express the Character of God in them as they do not need to prove who they are to others as they know their worth because of their relationship with God.

This is attitude is obtained by seeing and understanding God’s: Love, care, provision, plans for them and protection of them through spending time with Him and experiencing these things as they serve Him.

To express the Character of God then you must remove self and its needs so that only God’s quality of character flows through you in all you do.  This can only be done through self-discipline and studying what God’s Character is like and applying it to your life which God helps you to do through trials and suffering as He builds your faith up so that you will try to be like Him character wise.

As you express God’s quality of Love to God it will become a natural expression of the way you express His quality of Love to others.

Importance of obedience To Jesus.

Xxxx In chapter 3 of the Book of The Revelation the church of Sardis had members whose names were written in The Book of Life but who were no longer obeying Jesus.  In Rev 3:5 they were told to repent of their continued disobedience resulting from their lukewarm attitude to the things of God or their name would be blotted out (removed) from the book of life and they would lose their salvation.

Jesus said in His book of Revelation that you can lose your salvation through deliberately not repenting of disobedience (sin).  Ignoring what Jesus has said you should do for Him is disobedience and rebelliion.

You are only required to be obedient to what God has been revealed to you and not to what you do not know or others believe you should know.  In your correct obedience to Jesus is your salvation preserved!

Your level of belief in the things of God will determine the level at which you pursue them or obey them.

Your level of expression of what God taught you will be used to judge you on the last day and determine your rewards, if any.

The three areas of Attitudes

To God

Worship Him

Obey Him

Love Him for what He has done for you

To Jesus as King of The Kingdom of God and the universe

Obey completely

Accept Jesus as Saviour, Redeemer

Accept Jesus as our brother and friend

To everyone else (all relationships must be based on God’s type of Love):

Your self

Your family

The Body (fellow Christians)

These are the attitudes you need to have to relate correctly to God, Jesus and others

The main attitude of Love is expressed to all and has no degree of levels in it.   In other words, a Christian only has one type of love – God’s quality of Love, and not the four loves of theologians. It is just the way it can physically be expressed depends on the relationship and social convention which is why a married woman can have sex and a single woman should not.

The importance of God’s perspective in looking at things

You must always look at things in the way God looks at things so that you will apply His values and requirements and not be influenced by Satan’s way of thinking which is expressed in the world system and its values that are always around you.  (Satan makes certain of that)

If you do not know how God’s principles and values apply to a situation, then ask The Holy Spirit.  He has been sent by God to guide you in all the things you are to do with God as well as to teach you what you need to know to be able to do them (Job 32:8, Jn 16:13, Jn 8:32, Duet 29:29).

We are told to study The Bible daily in Acts 17:11 so it must be important.

Attitudes to have

It is important to have God’s quality of love.   Love in the way He does and you will always do what He requires of you (Jn 13:34-35). This will be the foundation of all our attitudes if we are to express the Character of God in all we do.

You are to submit yourself completely to His Will (Rom 12:1-2)

You are to seek Jesus and His Will in all you do (Col 3:1-2, Matt 6:33).

Your objective should be to seek Gods Will in all you do to develop the relationship you have with each member of The Trinity (Matt 6:32-34).

You are to trust His Love, as whatever He allows to happen to you will always be for your best (Rom 8:28).

You must work at your side of the relationship you have with God and seek to maintain the obedience this requires (Phil 2: 14-15).

Your thoughts must always be pure and wholesome (Phil 4:8, Matt 12:36).

You must always be guided by the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:14, Jn 16:13).

You must serve Jesus in the way He desires you to serve Him, encouraging others to do what He requires of them (Heb 10:24-25).

You must believe God rewards His followers.  That all you did for God on earth was worthwhile doing. You must believe it will be all worthwhile and that all the rewards you have in heaven will be worth all you suffered on earth (Heb 11:6.)

You must endure to the end and finish the work God has for you on earth (1 Cor 15:58, Matt 24:13).  It is on earth that we learn the attitudes we will use in heaven and it is only as we endure trials to their end that we will learn them as we should and receive rewards for enduring them.

You must realize that when you affect another Christians, you really affect Jesus (Matt 25:40).

The basic altitude is unswerving, loving, obedience to Jesus.  Jesus must be ruler of all you do.  He does not ask you to obey Him out of fear of going to hell but out of love, appreciation and thanksgiving for what He has done for you.

In John 14:15 He specifically stated:

If you love me, keep my commandments.

Love is the basis of all Christian obedience and “Love for Jesus” is the basic attitude for the expression of all other attitudes of the Christian life.

God’s type of Love is the expression of The Spirit of God’s presence in you and is expressed as: joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance (Gal 5:22-23).  It is through these expressions of God’s type of Love to others that God shows His character through you.

The attitudes expanded

Because of what Jesus has done for us, we should submit our self to Him.

Rom 12:1.I beg you therefore, my brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God by a logical service.

2.And do not imitate this world, but be transformed by the renovation of your minds, and you shall distinguish what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God.

Jesus redeemed us and paid the price God required to remove from us all the spiritual punishment for our sins that would have resulted in our going to hell.  In other words, He delivered us from going to hell and removed the requirement to sacrifice to God for our sins.

By doing this He also removed the defilement that prevented us from entering heaven and the presence of God.

Because of this, we are always able to be in a proper relationship with God so that The Holy Spirit can guide us and we can always approach God and talk to Him as well as continually to hear Him.

Our primary reason for submission to Jesus is the love and thankfulness we have toward Jesus for what Jesus did for us at Calvary as well as what He is doing for us now on earth and will do for us in heaven.

We need to submit to Jesus so we are always where we should be so He can use us and meet our needs and help us along the path He has prepared for us from before creation on which is every good thing He has prepared for us.

We are told also to focus on the things of Jesus and to reject all that Satan offers us through the world system he controls and which is designed to distract you and guide you away from the things of Jesus as well as to blind you too them.

We need to change our attitudes and thoughts so they are changed from the ways we used to think (based on what we saw in the world around us) to that with Jesus desires us to focus on.

Coll 3:1. If therefore you are risen with The Messiah, seek that which is above, the place where The Messiah sits at the right side of God.

2. Feed on that which is above and not that which is in The Earth,

3. For you have died to yourselves and your lives are hidden with The Messiah in God.

4. And whenever The Messiah, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

We are to focus on the Will of Jesus for us. It is He who is our ruler, who, through Calvary, freed us from the punishment of sin and the bondage Satan had placed on us.  So if we are His follower we will focus on His requirements of us and this focus will keep us from doing what Satan desires us to do.

Your mind should be occupied solely with His teachings and His will for you.  To focus on the things the world (controlled by Saturn) offers you, is to take your eyes off what Jesus requires of you.  So that you may end up disobeying Him in an area or no longer be a follower of Him.

Satan has to have you agree (focus on) what He suggests you do for you to sin.

One of the greatest influences on our minds and which Satan controls is the media: Television, DVD’s, movies- anything that inputs into a person.  This is why you need to carefully examine the things you input into your mind to see if they are Godly or not.

Seeking holiness requires you to focus on Jesus and His Things and to turn away from Satan and his things.

You no longer should be in control of your life’s purpose as you have offered it to Jesus to be Lord of.  So, that now, you future hope and plans are tied up with the Will of Jesus for you.  As you do His Will and bring Him Glory, He also will bring your glory, reflected from the Glory you gave Him.  It will also be the life that is best for you although you may not realise it at that time.

Matt 6:31.Therefore do not be concerned or say, What will we eat? , or What will we drink? , or,What will we wear?

32.For the Gentiles are seeking all these things, but your Father who is in Heaven knows that all these things are necessary for you.

33.But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34.Therefore you shall not be concerned about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be concerned for itself. A days own trouble is sufficient for it.

We should always be seeking the will of God and to improve the relationship we have with him.  We should not be concerned about our needs as God promises to provide all we need if we focus on His Will and developing the relationship we have with Him.  In fact v34 is almost a command not be concerned about the future, which you will not be if you trust completely God’s plan and preparation for your life and in this attitude you will be spared the worries people usually have about their future.

Satan uses his world system to try and distract us from God’s Love and provision, so we will worry and be anxious.  If we believe in God and His Love for us, Satan cannot get us to do this.  We will trust God for our needs and not worry about them or be anxious about anything and when we buy something we will ask God if we really need it.

Only in this attitude of complete trust in God’s Love, Control, Purposes and Plans for us is there true peace and contentment.  This is a result of having no anxiety or worry because you know God is in control and whatever happens is for your best.

If Satan can get you to not trust God’s Love toward you, he can torment you.  You must trust God completely, or He is not your Lord!

Phil 4:6. Do not be worried for anything, but always in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known before God,

7. And the peace of God, Who is greater than every mind, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus

1 Peter 5:7. And cast all your cares on God, for he takes care of you.

We are told to give our fears, worries and anxieties to Jesus to be Lord of as He will deal with them and help you go through them.

If you trust Jesus and His Love, you will ask him to help you. After all, that is what friends are for and Jesus is the best friend you will ever have.

When you wholeheartedly follow Jesus as your Lord, The Father in Heaven adopts you as His son and then you are not just a friend to Jesus, but He is now your step-brother through your adoption by The Father.

This is why you need to learn to spend time with Jesus and The Father.  After all, who does not want to spend time with their beloved father and brother.

Rom 8:28. But we know that he helps those who love God in everything for their good,

Php 2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out (work at your side of the relationship) your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Php 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

If you love Jesus, you will spend your time developing your side of the relationship. You will take whatever steps are needed to do this.

You will learn whatever you need to learn. You will do whatever you need to do.  You will spend with Him whatever time is necessary to do this.

You will always trust that God is always working for your best so that you will never complain about what He is allowing to happen to you.  You will trust His Love for you in whatever circumstances He allows to happen to you.  He is Control of all your circumstances and Satan can do nothing to hinder Jesus in this.

The Holy Spirit is your guide and is the person God has sent to help you in your Christian life.  You will need to be able to hear his guidance and teaching as well as to trust this guidance and teaching.  He also loves you and all He does is for your best.  So you need to develop your relationship with Him and walk with one spiritual ear always listening to Him.

Job 32:8  But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Jn 16:13.But whenever The Spirit of The Truth comes, he will lead you into the whole truth, for he will not speak of his own will, but he shall speak whatever he shall hear and he shall reveal the future to you.

Rom 8: 14. For those who are led by The Spirit of God, these are the sons of God

Every wrong word you say you will need to explain to Jesus why you said it.

Phil 4: 8. Therefore, my brethren, those things that are true, those that are honorable, those that are righteous, those things that are pure, those things that are precious, those things that are praiseworthy, deeds of glory and of praise, meditate on these things.

Matt 12: 36.For I say to you that every idle word that people will speak, they will give an answer for it in the day of judgement.

37.For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.

If you are led by the Holy Spirit, your focus will only be on good things that come from God and not on the things of Satan, which are unholy, and defiled and which anyone that deliberately does them cannot enter the Kingdom of God.  You will also express these good things in your life to others.

If you love Jesus, you will only say and do things that promote the King and His Kingdom  accepting only thoughts that do this and rejecting all of Satan that would hinder your doing this in your life:

You will also think of how Jesus desires you to serve others.  We serve Jesus our King, and He tells us whom He wants us to serve as well as how He desires us too as well as when and how to serve them and also how to encourage others like He encourages us.

Heb 10:24 (LITV) And let us consider one another, to incitement of love and of good works,

Heb 10:25  not forsaking the assembling together of ourselves, as is the custom of some, but exhorting, and by so much more as you see the Day drawing near.

Mat 25: 40 And The King answers and says to them, Amen, I say to you, as much as you have done to one of these my little brothers, you have done that to me.

This is why Jesus says that whatever we do to others we do to Him.  They belong to Him and anything we do to any part of His Kingdom we do to Him as its King.

It is Him we obey and show His quality of Love as we serve others. So how we express His type of Love to others is how we affect the demonstration of His quality of Love to them.  They are also all children of The Father and what we do to them in a sense we do to Him.

Heb 11: 6. But without faith, no one can please God, for whoever is brought near to God must believe that he exists and that he is the rewarder of those who seek him.

As we serve God, out of Love for Him and those we serve, He has rewards for us. He asks us to believe He will reward us through doing all He said He would do for those who followed Him.

Faith must trust God and part of this trust is in Him rewarding us for this service we do to him, even though He, as a King, does not need to reward us for the things He commands us to do.

Our primary reward is a relationship with God.  This relationship results in salvation as well as the release of every good thing God is able to give you (other rewards).

Matt 24: 13 But whoever will persevere until the end will have life.

1 Cor 15: 58. From now on, my brethren and beloved, be steadfast; do not be shaken, but be abounding at all times in the work of THE LORD JEHOVAH, as you know that your toil has not been worthless in THE LORD JEHOVAH.

He requires us to wholeheartedly try and finish all He asks as too do and to endure all Satan does to us.  By this we will show our love for Jesus and that He is our Lord.

He is not interested in our successes but in our attitude to Him and others as we do what He commands us to do.

So what are we to do for Jesus?

We are the representatives of Him and His Kingdom and are to proclaim, teach and demonstrate His Kingdom and its Character on earth to all who do not follow Him or do not know Him personally.

Jesus said (summarizing His last statements before He rose into heaven).

All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in My name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

As you can see, Jesus desires us to tell others about His Love for them, what He has done for them, as well as what He can and will do for them as well as teach them how to receive these things and obey Him in the doing of His Will.

If you Love Jesus you will do this for Him.

Do not be concerned if you do not know how to do these things. The Holy Spirit promises to teach you all you need to know to do this and will bring people and information to you to help you to learn about doing this in the way Jesus desires you to do it.  All Jesus requires is for you to wholeheartedly desire to learn these things and to tell others what you do know..

If you are able to do this but do not bother too when Jesus asks you to do it then you risk going to hell, unless you repent and do them.  If you do not do it you have rejected Jesus by rejecting what He has asked you to do.

If you deny Him or knowledge of Him in any way, you have also rejected Him. Unless you repent and tell others about Him, you will lose your Salvation (Rev 3.5).  He will reject you before the Judgment Throne of The Father so that you cannot go to heaven. The only other place you can go to is hell.

There are many people in hell that rejected what Jesus desired of them to do, yet still called themselves Christians (implying they were His followers).

How you deal with these attitudes is up to you. You have free will and it is your choice what you do with it.  So you will have no one else to blame if you disobey God and end up in hell.

The race is not to the swiftest, or to the smartest or the most intelligent. It is to those who trust and humbly obey Jesus and endure to the end in all Jesus asks them to endure.

If you love people as The Father loves them.  You will always have before you their eternal destiny and good.  And you will have one ear on the Holy Spirit to see what God wants you to do or say to them (if anything).

You do not Minister to all.  But only those God desires you to Minister too and then you only say or do what he desires you to say or do for them.

This is why you must always be led by The Holy Spirit.  So that you will always be ready to do or say what God desires you to do or say.

The Progression of faith

Faith is the first requirement:

You are saved through faith (your faith in what God has said about salvation and His Grace is necessary for this)

Without faith it is impossible to please Him (It requires faith in who He is and what He says has, is and will do for you).

You must also believe in His perfect Love for you and that He will do what He says.

If you Believe about what He said about Himself is true then you will make Him your God.

You will do three things:

Pursue holiness (rejecting all Satan suggest you do)

Be a good steward of all He gives you to look after Him:

People (including yourself)

His work for you

You will try to have the same attitudes He has to everything you encounter

You will also learn all you can about Him and His requirements of you.

You will be thankful for all that  happens to you no matter how bad it may seem because you God is in charge of it and promises to provide all you need if you wholeheartedly serve Him and that includes the experiences you need to get to heaven.

Any unbalance in your Christian life means one of these items is not in place.

Salvation is a relationship

Salvation is a relationship.  So how do you know you have a salvation relationship?

How do you maintain a relationship?

You spend time with each other

You tell each other personal things you would not normally share with people

You encourage and help each other

You enjoy being in their presence

You defend your friend and speak only good of them

You learn about them so you can relate to them better

Whatever you do will be best for both of you.

This is how you should relate to your best friend, God!  And this is how you will relate to God is you have a salvation relationship.

The Holy Spirit is sent to help us and guide us in this.

Like little children

Jesus said:

Matt 18:3 Unless you stop thinking like adults and have the same attitudes as little children do you will not enter The Kingdom of God!

So what did Jesus mean?

The first thing to ask is what attitudes do little children originally have before they are taught otherwise?

They trust people who have authority over them

They take things at face value and what people say as being true

They are eager to learn and try out new things

They respond to love and give it unconditionally

They desire to please (serve) without thought or any reward for doing it

They rely on people in authority for all their needs (physical, mental, spiritual emotional)

They rely on people in authority to teach them life skills and relational skills

We are adopted children of The Father, so how should these attitudes be shown in us?

In Matt 6:33 God promises to provide all our needs and in Jn 16:13 God promises to show us all the truth we need to know about things: both spiritual and physical.

They trust people who have authority over them

We must trust The Father completely in all He does for us and to us otherwise we will have fear in the relationship and it will not be as it should.  We need to believe Rom 8:28 that all God does for us is for our best otherwise we are calling God a liar saying something He does not mean.

They take things at face value and what people say as being true

We must trust what Jesus said and not try to read things into it or find ‘hidden’ wisdom or mysteries or add to it in the believe God has not told us everything and we need to find these out for ourselves.  If we do not accept what Jesus said as being truth then we call Him a liar.

They are eager to learn and try out new things

Fear stops you learning and doing anything new God desires you to do so fear stops you from growing in your spiritual life or allowing God to take you into new adventures in your Christian life.

They respond to love and give it unconditionally

Or primary attitude should be love for The Father, Jesus and The Holy Spirit and this will be reflected in love for others.  There is no fear in love so fear stops you loving others as you should in the way God desires you to relate to them.

You may not like what they do but that should not stop you loving them as someone your Father in heaven created and loves.  So for His sake you should love others and serve them as He loves and serves them and you.

They desire to please (serve) without thought or any reward for doing this

IF you Love God and appreciate what He has done for you, then you will serve Him and show this in your love for others as you have the attitude required to do this - His Quality of Love for them.  You will show His quality of love to others and tell others what He has done for you and can do for them because you love Him so much you want to tell others about Him and what He has done for you and can do for them.

They rely on people in authority for all their needs (physical, mental, spiritual emotional)

We must rely on God to teach us through The Holy Spirit and to bring to us people to help us in our Christian life who show by their lifestyle they are worthy of being listened too.  We follow God because He is worthy of being followed and so we should find teachers who are worthy of being listened too and not just because they have something ‘new’ or appear to be spiritual in what they do.

‘New’ is different to restoration and usually implies a ‘new knowledge’ not previously in the church and because of this should be carefully evaluated against scripture.

If we do not trust God when He said He would provide all we need if we served Him with our whole heart then we are saying He lied in Matt 6:33.

They rely on people in authority to teach them life skills and relational skills

We can learn values on how to live from what God teaches how we should live in His Bible.  So we should be studying The Bible to see how God desires us to do things and accept them at face values.

He also gives us His Holy spirit to guide us in this and if we do not listen to The Holy Spirit in our daily life God says we are not a child of His (Rom 8:14)

In summary

It all gets back to knowing what God desires you to do and then just doing it, trusting Him for the consequences.  It means to accept what The Bible teaches as truth and not try to explain it in a way people can accept but which modifies or distorts it truths

It needs the attitudes of a child to be able to do these things and not that of a mature adult of the world who reasons things out and believes they know what is needed for living each day without the need to consult God in all they do.
