Fear Not for I AM

is with  You

God made you. Not because of anything you could do for him but because of what He could do for you. How much more will He protect those He created who faithfully obey Him.

If I am not The God of all controlling all
Then you have problems

If I do not Love you so that Jeremiah 29:11 and Roman 8:28 are not true Then you have problems.

Your security is found in your relationship with Jesus, and is based on your position in The Kingdom.

When Jesus is Lord of an area of your life Satan cannot attack that area  without your permission or that of of your King, Jesus, who is also his captor and jailer.

It is the security found in your having a correct relationship with Jesus, your Lord, that protects you!

This is why it is important to develop the intimacy you have with Jesus, your King, so that you have a deep love relationship with Him and so you will joyfully obey Matthew 6:33. In other words you will

Seek the Will of the King

Seek the purposes and benefit of His Kingdom

He then is your Lord and is able to protect you as you do this and pro vide all you need to live and serve Him.

Some Promises of Protection

Psa 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psa 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psa 32:7 Thou art my hiding  place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.  Selah.

Psa 37:28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints;

they are preserved forever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

Joh 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

1Pe 3:12-13 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous,  and his ears are open unto  their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.  And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which  is good?

Rom 8:37-39, Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ  Jesus our Lord.

Security

You will really only be secure in someone you trust and love

Either Jesus is in control of all things, or He is not. If He is in control of all things He can protect you from any danger or attack of Satan. If He is not in charge, then nothing can protect you.  It is an all or nothing situation

Definition from Webster,s 1828 Dictionary of the English language

SECU’RITY, n. [L. securitas.]

1. Protection; effectual defense or safety from danger of any kind;

as a chain of forts erected for the security of the frontiers.

2. That which protects or guards from danger. A navy constitutes the security of Great Britain from invasion.

3. Freedom from fear or apprehension; confidence of safety; whence, negligence in providing means of defense. Security is dangerous, for it exposes men to attack when unprepared. Secu- rity in sin is the worst condition of the sinner.

4. Safety; certainty. We have no security for peace with Algiers, but the dread of our navy.

5. Anything given or deposited to secure the payment of a debt, or the performance of a contract; as a bond with surety, a mort- gage, the indorsement of a responsible man, a pledge, &c.

6. Something given or done to secure peace or good behaviour. Violent and dangerous men are obliged to give security for their good behaviour, or for keeping the peace. This security in being bound with one or more sureties in a recognizance to the king or state.

The five securities

Security of Salvation and eternal life

Security in the war zone we call earth

Security in heaven

Security of what God has promised us on earth

Security of what He has promised us in heaven

There is also the other meaning of something being paid to secure something such as Jesus paying His life to redeem us. The security resulting from the Redemption by Jesus lasts forever. The results of our redemption are ensured forever.

We must trust God to protect what is His

Our security is the result of the relationship we have with Jesus and The Father (guided by The Holy Spirit). It is because of His Love for us that He protects us. We need to trust His Love towards us if we are to be secure in our relationship with Him.

Our security is in the Love of God toward us and that because He is Love, He is always working for our good (Rom 8:28). So that whatever happens is always what is best for us. In other words, it is worthwhile trusting God in the relationship we Have with Him.

Security on earth

The problem with seeking security in the things of the world is that the world is controlled by Satan who is seeking to destroy you. So that all he gives is designed to hurt you in one way or another and place you under his control. He uses the world to destabilise people and make them insecure so that they will not have stability and will seek his erroneous ways of coping with insecuri- ties and fears.

Only in Jesus is their security in this world. He controls Satan and what Satan does. So He can stop Satan controlling events or from attacking you. In the complete control of Jesus over everything to do with your life there is protec- tion and security. This is why it is so necessary for Jesus to be Lord of every area of your life. As only in that relationship is there protection in its fullest.

God never sleeps. So He is always able to protect you. Whether you are asleep or awake, Jesus is always on the alert to protect you.

Satan is not really a problem if you ignore what He says to you and he will flee

if you draw near to Jesus and cast him out (in Jesus’ Name). The fact you are at war with Satan and that He has been defeated at Calvary means you can attack Him in accordance with the directions of Jesus using the authority Jesus has delegated to you over him and Satan will be removed from you.

It is a matter of faith

Faith looks at what God has said. How He has dealt with people in the past and is encouraged by this to believe what God has said He can do. Unless you believe what God has said you cannot be secure in Him.

Faith believes God can do what He has said, even though it seems impossible. When God causes the event requiring faith to occur it is wholeheartedly em- braced. These people are sufficiently secure in their faith to accept what God has said.

Faith believes God can do what He has said He would do but may not ask for it to be done because of the cost to others. It accepts what God does though for His Purposes as it His will and not theirs that has bought the action re- quired by faith.

You must be secure in your relationship with God

If you are not secure in your relationship with God then you will be afraid to do His Work. Demons will attack you, either directly or indirectly (through others), and you will have no spiritual defence to remove the attacking demons as you will not be sufficiently secure in the authority over them delegated to you by Jesus to attack them.

Security in Ministry

God is Love!  He will not ask us to work for Him without providing all you need to do His work and protecting you as you do it.

Only when you are truly secure in Jesus will you fulfil the role He has given you in The Body and thus in The Kingdom of God. You will joyfully accept the role, regardless of the cost as you are serving someone you love intimately.

Jesus promises to protect all who follow Him

You are a citizen of The Kingdom of God and Jesus promises to protect you

(Matt 6:33). Either He can or He cannot. If He cannot then He is a liar and

is not worthy of being followed.

Jesus does not lie and to say He cannot protect you or fro you to be insecure in His protection means you need to deal with something in your life that is stopping you trusting Jesus as you should. Deliverance may be required to be able to deal with this or problem or wrong attitude.

God will protect and deliver you for His Glory and integrity. If He does not protect you, as He has said He can, then Satan will mock Him for not being able to protect you.

If you trust in Jesus you will have peace and contentment, no matter what happens. As you will trust His Love towards you and be secure in the knowl- edge that all that happens to you will be for your best and the best of The Kingdom of God.

Are we worthy of anything God does for us?

No.

We have rebelled and been forgiven and all we do is what God requires us to do

However, as His citizens we have our needs supplied by Him.  But only if we do His work and seek to obey Him in all we do. In a sense our security and protection is given by God to do His work but also is a result of doing His Work.

It is our love and appreciation of Jesus that draws us to Him.  He then protects us so we can mature and learn to do His Will. As we learn to do His Will he ensures we are protected.

His security and protection is given to us to help us mature and grow as a

Christian and then is given to protect us as we do His work. It is all a part of God’s Grace and Love towards us.

A Basic overview

Phi 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that

Jesus Christ  is Lord,  to the glory of God the Father.

Jesus is Lord of all and nothing happens without His permission. This is why we need to trust Him for our security. No one else can guarantee it as He can.

We do not need to be concerned about His protection of us. It is guaranteed if we wholeheartedly obey Him.  It is a promise contained in Mat 6:33. That all we need, (including our protection and security) will be given us if we seek Him and His Kingdom.

So the problem is not His ability or desire to protect us. But it is our attitude toward Him that places us in a position to be protected by Him.

There are two types of protection:

God limiting Satan in his attacks on people so they can hear the

The Holy Spirit and not be destroyed by Satan

God protecting His people in the battle against Satan. This is a result of our relationship to Jesus.

Why you need security in Jesus

Satan seeks to destroy you and Jesus is the only one able to stop Him.  You can serve Jesus in safety knowing, if you are in a correct relationship with Him,

you are protected by Him and empowered by The Holy Spirit

Everyone alive is protected in some degree by Jesus or Satan would destroy everyone. But it is only those whom He is Lord of that are protected in every- thing.

Why Jesus can protect you

Jesus is lord of all and Satan is limited by Jesus in what He can do to you. Because Jesus is your King (because you are His citizen) He protects you so

you can serve Him and enjoy the benefits of His reign.

He needs to protect you and supply your needs if you are to serve Him and He is fully able to do so.

You must trust The King for your needs and protection because trusting Him places you in a position that He can protect and help you.

In Ps 91:3 we are given the picture of a bird protecting its young by covering it with its feathers. In a sense, when we are ‘in Jesus’ He is like a covering over us that protects us and gives us security.

Focus

Where your focus is will be where your priorities are directed too.  If your focus is Jesus then your priorities will be what He wants you to do. If it is elsewhere then it will be what you want to do.

If your focus is not on Jesus then you will need deliverance or the truths that will help you focus on Jesus.

As salvation and intimacy are maintained by wholehearted obedience to Jesus, you are in danger of losing your salvation if you deliberately do not focus on Jesus and His Will.

Before you can be secure in Jesus you must have Him as the central focus of your life. Only that which is important to you will be what you desire to invest your life in.

When He is your Lord then He is your Saviour, Redeemer, Protector, King. Security in Jesus is a result of investing your life in the relationship you have

with Him as well as being a good steward of the things of His He has given

you to be steward of.

Complete trust is necessary

You cannot partially trust Jesus if you desire to do His work as there will

always be some doubt, in some form, about Him and what He can do and this will in part affect your security in Him.

You must be fully secure in who He is and what He is able to do if you are to fully trust Him.

Having said that.  Jesus knows we all have different levels of trust in Him and that He needs to develop this trust in Him.  So He will never ask you to trust Him more than you are able too.

However, if you do not fully trust Him then He will not be able to ask you to do great things for Him.

You only fully trust people you fully love. Your degree of trust in them will determine how you relate to them and serve them.

If you have any doubt in your faith, determine why it is there and deal with it using the five steps or finding the truths that will set you free from those doubts.

Until you are free from these doubts you will not serve Jesus fully in the way

He desires you to serve Him.

In our weakness is His strength

As we acknowledge  our inability to defeat Satan in battle or to destroy his works we rely on Jesus. His strength is behind us in the battle and becomes our strength. His strength, that overcomes all Satan can do, allows Jesus to protect us and to deliver us from the attacks of Satan.

God will protect you in various ways that may not seem like protection. One of which is not answering prayers that are against His Will. This stops you falling into sin or obtaining something Satan can use to sidetrack you in some way.

Satan will try to answer your prayer instead which is why you need to be cer- tain of the source of answered prayer.

The Holy Spirit in all this

It is only as we are led By The Holy Spirit will we be able to live as Jesus desires us to and always be in the place where Jesus can protect us and use us.

How do you obtain this security

In the Old Testament this was summarised in Ps 91

The Psalm is as follows (Comments are mine):

To be protected by God and thus secure you need to be in a place of intimacy with Him.  In other words, the closest relationship you have with anyone is with Him.  Or at least you are wholeheartedly trying to make this the closest relationship you have.

Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High  shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

From this position you can confidently declare the protection of God in all things concerning you.

Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress:

my God; in him will I trust.

Because God’s Will is your lifestyle you can confidently declare God will pro- tect you, your family and all He has given you to be steward of.

Psa 91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

Psa 91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

He sends His angels to look after you and they never sleep. So their care of you is non-stop.

Psa 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Psa 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

In times of trouble, God Himself will personally take care of your situation.

Psa 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

There are additional benefits also apart from God’s Protection.

Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salva- tion.

So the way of obtaining God’s protection in The Old Testament was to have a close, intimate relationship with God.

Is it different in the New Testament?

Not really.   It is just stated differently in Matt 6:33:

(ASV) But seek ye first his kingdom,  and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

(GNB) Instead,  be concerned above everything  else with the King- dom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

(MSG) Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provi- sions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Al these verses shed a little different light on Mat 6:33.

The principle is still the same as that in the Old Testament. Seek to deepen the personal relationship you have with God and to do His Will and all your needs will be supplied: protection, security, provision, emotional support etc. All you need will be supplied and not just your physical needs.

This assumes that you desire God’s protection and intimacy with God.  Not desiring the things of God removes His protection and security. So you can say you desire God.  But if you do not seek a close, intimate relationship with God then your life will show otherwise and you will not be under His protec- tion as He will not be your Lord.

So to strengthen your faith in God and thus your security.  God gives you tri- als. One of the purposes of trials is to test your faith and thus your degree of security in Jesus so that these trials mature you and you become stronger.

If you ask God to make you like Him or to draw you closer to Him  and He puts you through trials to do this. Then you should not complain about the trials you are going through. The only other reason a Christian has for trials

is to be directed back to where God desires them to be. So to complain about that trial is also wrong. God is working for your best so you should really rejoice because He is showing His Love towards you!

Our security is in Jesus. It is based on our position (our relationship) in Him. We are:

Saved Redeemed Sanctified Holy to Him

A Citizen of His Kingdom

All of which are a result of faith in Jesus, what He did at Calvary and the re- sultant salvation relationship we have with Him.  These are maintained by our wholehearted, loving, obedient relationship with Him.

Our security is only as secure as our relationship with Jesus and The Father, which is a result of obeying the guidance of The Holy Spirit in all we do.

You will only trust Jesus if you love Him and appreciate whom He is. His love will cast out all your fears and will enable you to fearlessly attack Satan and destroy his works as well as minister deliverance.

Intimacy

The word “intimacy stems from the Latin intimatus, to make something known to someone else. (Another  derivation  is the verb “intimate,” which originally meant “to notify.”)  In its original mean- ing, in other words, intimacy did not mean emotional closeness, but the willingness to pass on honest information. (Charlotte Roberts)

Intimacy defines a situation  where there is no deceit between the parties as they trust the other person sufficiently to be able to tell

them everything without  fear of any rejection or adverse consequences occurring through  the response of the other person.

Intimacy and security

Because our security is based on our relationship with Jesus, the more intimate we are with Him the more secure we will be in Him.  So to increase our sense of security we need to develop the degree of our intimacy with Jesus through an appreciation of the relationship you have with Jesus.

It is hard to be intimate with someone you cannot see. It is only by what they do to you that you can see their love for you. Only as you see their love you will you desire to know more about them and to draw closer to them.

We can only know of God’s love by what He has done for us and this is re- vealed in the Bible.

How has God shown His Love for us?

He made us. We did not know we needed to exist and God is complete so

really did not need us to exist. He created us that His pleasure and for our benefit.

We did not know anything about redemption and were not able to bridge the gap that sin had caused between God and us. Out of his love for us He did what was necessary to restore us to the relationship He desires us to have with him.

He has prepared a path for us to walk on from before creation that has every- thing we need on earth to become the person He desires us to become. All on this path is for our benefit as God does not need any of it.

He keeps your life so that the next step or breath you take is a possible only because of this.

The most amazing thing is that he desires to relate to us as part of a family.

The God of this universe has done all of this when it was not necessary for you to do so. He has done that for our benefit and He really does not need any- thing we can do.

These things alone should make you appreciate his love you and cause you you to desire to know Him more intimately.

So how do you increase intimacy with a person?

You spend time with them: Learning about them

Sharing intimate things about yourself with them

Serving them

Developing an appreciation of them

You need to build up trust in them to develop a greater intimacy with them. You need to show that they can depend on you and trust you in the things they disclose to you with.

How do you learn about Jesus?

The Bible (Rom 10:17)

What The Holy Spirit teaches you about Him (Job 32:8, Jn

16:13)

What has been written about Him outside The Bible

Experience as He deals with you

How do you talk to Him?

The way you would normally talk to a friend. With love, respect and truthful- ness

How does He reply?

He uses thoughts, words, feelings, sensations, pictures and scripture to place in your mind what He wants to say to you. Thoughts are the most common way He speaks to you.

How do you show to Jesus that you are reliable and trustworthy?

By the way you deal with the things He trusts you with:

Yourself, your relatives, fellow Christians,  possessions you are steward of, His Name, Glory and Kingdom  as well as anything else He gives you to deal with (be a steward of ) on His behalf.

Faithful, wholehearted obedience to Him shows your love for Him and this is expressed in the way you serve Him with what He gives you to be steward of.

Intimacy with Jesus is built on a love relationship and in a love relationship

you do things for each other without thought of any gain or benefit. You serve each other out of love and not for reward and by the way you relate to each other maintain the intimacy you have built up with each other.

It is only from this position of intimacy and love that you will be secure in your relationship with Jesus. From this position of security you will also be satisfied with whatever God allows to happen to you as well as the results of the service you do for Him.  You will not seek a reward for any service as the satisfaction of serving someone you love will be sufficient.

The only reward Jesus expects from you for all He has done for you is to love Him to the best of your ability with the same type of Love with which He loves you. It is only as we love Him with the same quality of love that he

Loves us with will the intimacy with Him be as it should.

Because you love Him you will do whatever He asks you to do regardless of the cost to you.

What price are you willing to pay to develop the intimacy you have with Jesus as well as the security that results from this intimate relationship?

Your life?

Your ‘possessions’? Your family?

Your good Name?

Anything else He asks you to give up for Him?

What are you willing to do or give up to preserve and to develop further the intimate relationship you have with Jesus?

According to your choices will be your reward in eternity  as well as what you will pursue to obtain your choice. This will be reflected in what you pursue spiritually  as well as in the resultant degree of intimacy you will have with Jesus.

If you seek to develop your intimacy with Jesus you will seek spiritual things that will help you with this. You will reflect these in the way you live, serve Him and relate to others around you. To choose inputs that do not develop your relationship with God is to hinder or slow the development of this rela- tionship as well as cause you to not be as secure as you could be.

Your spiritual growth will also be hindered and the choice you make may also allow Satan a point of attack on you or entry to your soul.

For Jesus to be Lord. All must be given to Him.  To develop complete inti- macy with Jesus you must wholly want it and reflect the relationship in your lifestyle.

Faith in Jesus and Security

If you are not secure in Jesus it will be because you do not have sufficient faith to be secure in Him.  This can be for a number of reasons:

You do not believe He is God

You do not believe He has authority over all things including

Satan

You do not believe He Loves you and does all for your best

You do not understand your security in Jesus.

You do not believe it is worth being secure in Him

Faith is a result of hearing, reading about and seeing what God has done and is doing. If reading and hearing The Bible and what God has done does not help you then it is either:

You do not believe The Bible is accurate or historical

You do not understand it to be able to believe it.

God promises to help you understand if you really want too

(Jn 7:17, 16:13).

God will give you all the understanding you need if you really want it (Job 32:8).

You are not interested in the things of God

You may need deliverance

To the degree you desire Jesus will be the degree you are secure in Him. To the degree you are secure in Jesus and who you are in Him you will:

Believe what He did and taught

Seek to understand His teachings

Trust Him to do all He said He would do now and in heaven

Wholeheartedly love Him and seek to serve Him, trusting Him for any of the consequences of your service.

Only in the security of Jesus and who He is will you endure trials to their end (Heb 11:6, 1 Cor 15:58) and trust Him that there is a reward for serving Him. If you do not believe there is a reward for service and that Jesus can secure this

for you then you will not serve Him as He desires you to if at all.

Your security and service is proportional to your faith in God. Your faith in serving God will also depend on your degree of trust in Him and how secure you are in what He has said and taught about what He requires from you on earth and has planned for you now and in heaven.

How to maintain your security

Your security and protection is maintained through your relationship with

Jesus.

Out of your love for Him you obey and serve Him.  And in this wholehearted love and obedience is your security and protection maintained.

To maintain your security you must desire to maintain it.  And you will only desire to maintain it in proportion to your love for Jesus.

In a sense, maintaining your salvation is the key to maintaining your security.

What does God’s security mean to you?

God’s security gives you a secure environment to mature in and learn how to live the Christian life as well as to do what God desires you to do.

You also have a secure environment to serve God in attacking His enemy, Satan.

You can give Jesus all your problems to deal with as He is in charge of all things and Satan cannot interfere without His permission and can be stopped by Jesus from interfering or hindering what you are doing for Jesus.

All your needs will be met. Either for living, learning or serving Jesus, be- cause He is in a position to meet all your needs one of which is continuing to develop the intimate relationship you have with Jesus.

In a sense, this position of security is what is reflected in the 23rd Psalm.

1 (WEB), Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.

2, He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

3, He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for

his names sake.

4, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5, You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

6, Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.

In this confidence of God’s security and protection is the place of emotional and mental rest and peace in which the Christian life is lived.

What are our responsibilities because of our security and protection

The Good King loves His citizens, protects them and provide all their needs.  In return they serve Him as they love Him and protect all He has given them to look after.

Our responsibility is to do what The King asks of us. No more and no less. We do this out of love and appreciation of The King.

We are protected so we can:

Learn about and mature into a citizen of The Kingdom

Do the work of The King

This gives us a responsibility to work at these two things and all that is in- volved in their being carried out by us.

His protection enables us to do these things fearlessly as nothing can harm us because Jesus is protecting us.

So we need to learn what The King requires of us. This is found as The Holy

Spirit teaches and gives us understanding of the things of God.

You cannot sit back idly in this security and do nothing.  That is disobedience. If it is not repented of, you can lose your salvation and you will definitely be of no use to God.

As you have been given God’s great security you are to work while the day is

there. Soon the night will come when no one can work.

Epilogue

If you trust God He will deliver you. It may not be the way you think it should be. But it will be what is best for The Kingdom and for you.

It may cost you your life on earth. But you will gain all you live for in heaven. Besides, The Kingdom is more important than the individual. The good of all is more important than the life of one.

Regardless of what happens to you, you know it is for your best and the re- wards of God are waiting for you. Whether you live or die.

Knowing His protection there is no reason not to do His work

If you Love Jesus and trust Him you will accept any hardship fearlessly (Rom

8:28)

Examine your security in Jesus and see if you need to develop some areas of your life to develop your security in Jesus. Your service of Jesus will be only as good as your security in Jesus. You may need deliverance to help in this.

The greater the test of faith, the greater the calling of the service you are to do for God, the greater will be of your need of security in Jesus.

Prayer to give your security to Jesus

Lord. I give you all that stops or hinders intimacy with The Father, The Holy Spirit and yourself.  I repent of anything I have done wrong to hinder intimacy and forgive all who have hindered my intimacy with you, The Father and The Holy Spirit. I desire a close, intimate relationship with you.

So I say to you Satan. You have no place in me. In Jesus’ Name, go to the throne of judgment to be dealt with by Jesus.

In Jesus Name I command healing and restoration on myself for all that Satan did to me and ask you Holy Spirit to fill me completely and replace the demons that have gone.

Amen.

Thank you Father, Holy Spirit, Lord Jesus.
